RCBC dubbed as bank with the first green ATM network

Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) was recently recognized as the bank having the first Green ATM network in the country.  ABS-CBN’s Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation Inc.’s Bantay Kalikasan, presented the recognition to RCBC after the bank signed a memorandum of agreement for its Bantay Baterya program.

By donating the bank’s ATMs and other equipment’s lead acid batteries to the Bantay Baterya program, RCBC effectively aids in ensuring proper recycling and eradication of risks to humans and the environment brought by improper disposal. This is done with the assurance that there is proper pick-up and transportation of the donated batteries.

“It is an honor for us to be known as a bank with the first of its kind green ATM network that highlights environmental care,” said RCBC President and CEO Lorenzo Tan.

“We are glad to have RCBC as one of the roster of private companies assisting the Bantay Baterya program. We hope that we get to continue receiving this unwavering support from various companies in the future,” said ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, Inc. Managing Director Clarissa Ocampo.

RCBC, with the Bantay Baterya Program, also helps in the preservation of various eco-tourism projects since proceeds of the donation are used to finance ABS-CBN’s Bantay Kalikasan program.

This is not the first time RCBC has promoted ecological care in the past years. With the bank’s participation in the Yuchengco Group of Companies’ (YGC) Earth Care Project, a tree planting drive in Tanay, Rizal and the establishment of Rizal Microbank’s first office made from recycled container vans, these initiatives only prove RCBC’s dedication in maintaining a greener and cleaner environment.
