Malayan Insurance Co., Inc.

Malayan Insurance Co., Inc. is the YGC flagship company in the non-life insurance industry.  Established by Don Enrique T. Yuchengco as China Insurance and Surety Co. in 1930, it was authorized to underwrite fire and marine insurance and fidelity and surety bonds.

China Insurance went into a forced hibernation during World War II. In spite of wartime losses, China Insurance settled claims of its pre-war policyholders.

Reopened as Malayan Insurance Co., Inc. in 1949, the Yuchengco non-life insurance company would become the country’s No.1 non-life insurer, a distinction it still holds today. The company is authorized by the Insurance Commission to underwrite the following: Aviation, Engineering, Fire/Property, Marine, Miscellaneous Casualty, Motorcar, Personal Accident, Residential Fire and Travel Insurance, and Surety/Bonds.

Malayan Insurance has two subsidiaries: First Nationwide Assurance Corp. and Bankers Assurance Corp.
