November 13 – 27, 2014 ?

Giselle Kasilag lives to travel and travels to live. She became a journalist precisely because she wanted to be the person who visits far-off places and gets to write about them for other people’s benefit. Back then, she would find herself in a different Philippine city almost every weekend, listing down names of places she could barely pronounce and trying out every food and activity that each one offered.

Wandering became a career.

In recent years, she has been roaming cities in Asia where she has experienced great exhilaration in finding things that are different but still strangely familiar, or so familiar but vaguely different. Often, all it takes is a step over a threshold to be transported to a new world. Thus began her love affair with doors, windows, books, mirrors, wardrobes, cameras, photographs, and anything that can serve as a portal into another world.

For her, there is magic in these seemingly inconspicuous openings that she sees so much more than the buildings, landmarks and sights before her–scenes that people pass by every single day without seeing.

Through her photographs, she hopes others can join her in discovering the extraordinary in the everyday.
