AYF honors over 600 disciplined HS students

The AY Foundation, Inc. (AYF) recently recognized more than 600 disciplined high school students for their exemplary conduct and academic performance during the 23rd National Discipline Awards (NDA) ceremony held at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium of the RCBC Plaza in Makati City.

This annual celebration is the culmination of the year-long nationwide search for youth role models who achieved success through discipline.

In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Alfonso Yuchengco highlighted how NDA recipients stand out from their peers.  “The awardees possess the quality of discipline that allows them to train themselves into having obedience, self-control and a positive attitude towards life,” he said.

Serving as the ideal role models for the youth, the recipients, who were carefully selected by their academic leaders and colleagues, received gold medals and cash incentives intended to motivate them to uphold their strong commitment to discipline and perseverance.

Jesy Marinel Magadia, recipient from St. Bridget College in Batangas said, “With the number of awardees, being one of them is such an honor, which makes this whole experience overwhelming.

For Eugene John Aranjuez of Muntinlupa National High School, receiving the award equates to more responsibilities. Thus, he promises to continue setting good example. “As one of the NDA recipients, I promise to uphold integrity and be consistent with my good attitude,” he said.

Similarly, Makati Science High School student Anjanette Canales felt the same when she was chosen as one of the discipline awardees. “I will join AYF’s leadership training and will continue to set good example. As a citizen, being disciplined is the least that we can do,” she said.

Since 1990, the AYF through the annual NDA has helped more than 10,000 exceptional youths who have excelled in their endeavors and contributed to the betterment of society.

This year’s event also showcased the talents of select awardees through their stellar sing-and-dance production numbers inspired by the hit musical TV series Glee.
