Sun Life Grepa Financial, Inc. (SLGFI) is a joint venture company borne out of a partnership between the Yuchengco Group of Companies (YGC) and Sun Life Financial – Philippines. The joint venture agreement involves Sun Life’s acquisition of 49% of Grepalife, the flagship life insurance firm of the YGC. Grepalife was established in 1954, and has evolved to be among the top 10 life insurers in the country. Sun Life Financial on the other hand, is a leading life insurance company in the Philippines that has been operating in the country for over 117 years.
As a union of two strong brands, Sun Life Grepa Financial, Inc. aims to leverage the strengths of both Sun Life Financial and Grepalife, and to continue its mission to be a leading provider of protection and wealth management products. Sun Life Grepa Financial operates as a separate entity from Sun Life Financial - Philippines.
Sun Life’s acquisition also allows SLGFI to enter into an exclusive cooperation agreement with Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC), enabling it to gain access to the bank’s extensive sales network of over 350 branches and over 2.5 million customers nationwide.
SLGFI currently distributes its products through bancassurance, a tied agency force, as well as dedicated group consultants and work-site marketing team. The company continues to invest and grow its multiple business lines and distribution channels and aims to be among the top tier insurers in the Philippines.
In achieving this business objective, SLGFI has identified four key strategies: offering innovative products and competitive value proposition to its clients; growing the distribution and enhancing its reach; improving product delivery capabilities; and establishing operational efficiency.
